PAN AFRICAN YOUTH NETWORKING EVENT: OCTOBER 2022

The Pan African Youth Networking Event was a collaboration between the Ethiopian Embassy in Uganda, African Youth Caucus Inc. and the Ethiopian Youth Council.


The event was held on Saturday 08th October 2022 from 4pm to 7pm at the premises of the Ethiopian Embassy located at Prince Charles Drive, Kololo (Plot No 27a) in Kampala City, Uganda under the theme 'Fostering Pan Africanism and Patriotism among African youth in the 21st Century' and presented youth with opportunities like; discussion on Pan Africanism & Patriotism, Networking with other fellow youth, Drinking Ethiopian Coffee and Tree planting as part of the Climate change initiative.


The Chief Guest of the day was Hon David Pulkol, Executive Director of the African Leadership Institute who represented Rt. Hon Amama Mbabazi, Special Envoy for Ethiopia and South Sudan. Other Guests in attendance were Her Excellency Alemtsehay Meseret Gelaw, Ambassador for Ethiopia to Uganda and Burundi, Dr. Sam Omara the Head of Public diplomacy at Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Miss Judith Heard (Miss Environment Africa 2022), Jacob Eyeru (Chairperson National Youth Council), Jothan Yamurebire Burobuto (Executive Director of Uganda Youth Network), Mr. Omot Ocholi (Chairperson of the Ethiopian Youth Council), executive members of the Uganda




National Students Association and members of the African youth caucus and NRM Youth League.


Rt Hon Amama Mbabazi in a speech delivered by Hon David Pulkol called on African leaders to invest in the youth if they are to achieve socio economic transformation of their countries. He further hastened the youths to be patriotic, united and engage in global networking and debates and take advantage of current digital to promote Pan-Africanism.


The Ethiopia’s ambassador to Uganda, Alemtsehay Meseret called upon African youths to collaborate in exchanging ideas and principles of Pan Africanism. ”The youth have played a big role in the process of decolonisation, the struggle against apartheid and infact to encourage the development and promotion of diplomatic process in African continent. We should see youth as part of development,” the ambassador said.


Dr. Sam Omara, the public diplomacy head for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uganda, noted that the youth are leaders of tomorrow and this is evidenced in the increasing number of African Youth emerging in the forefront of innovation and in the proliferation of technological advancement.


The chairman of the African Youth Caucus Dr. Andrew Turiheihi, the NRM Youth League representative Mr. Maxczzon Muhwezi and the Ethiopian Youth Union, Omot Ocholi made remarks and vowed to work together to create more African youth networking platforms.
