The Virtual 2nd edition of the Africa Model United Nations conference (AFRIMUN) was organised by the African Youth Caucus-WORLDMUN in partnership with Victoria University under the ‘Positioning African youth as excellent leaders for the 21st Century and beyond.’

The conference was attended by 50 delegates mainly from Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Nigeria, Ghana and took place from December 10th to December 11th 2020.
The World Health Organisation, Office of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and African Union were simulated with conference topics as follows: Strengthening African Health Care Systems in light of the COVID 19 Pandemic, Improving access to education for refugees and Winning the Fight against Corruption in Africa respectively.
The diplomatic panel session was conducted on Friday 11th December 2020 via Zoom from 09:00am to 11:00am. The topic of discussion was ‘The role of digital diplomacy in the development of Africa’.
In attendance were the following: His Excellency Matthias Schauer (Ambassador of Germany to Uganda), Her Excellency Alemtsehay Meseret Gelaw (Ambassador of Ethiopia to Uganda), Mr. Andrew Mwenda (Ugandan Independent Journalist) and Dr Maxime Houinato (Country Representative UN Women Uganda). The following subtopics of discussions at the panel were ; The Impact of ICT and Social media on International Relations, the evolution of digital diplomacy, benefits and risks, the rise of fake news and its potential in undermining digital diplomacy, how to implement for effective and successful digital diplomacy and diplomacy in the COVID 19 Era.
